Expect daytime highs of around 26°C in June, 29°C in July and August and 26°C again in September, going by AEMET's long-term averages for Reus airport, just inland from Salou. The sea lags behind the air: it is typically around 22°C in June, peaks at about 26°C in August and is still close to 25°C through September, so late-summer swimming is noticeably warmer than early summer.
Autumn is when the weather turns less predictable. September and October are the wettest months on this coast, each averaging around 75mm of rain, and by October daytime highs have dropped to about 22°C with the sea at a similar temperature. That is comfortable for walking round Tarragona or Cambrils harbour but cool for long days on the sand. Winters are mild rather than warm, at around 14–15°C by day.
PortAventura's seasonal events give the park a reason to visit outside summer. In 2026 its Halloween season ran from 19 September to 15 November and its Christmas season from 20 November to 6 January, so an autumn short break can still include a full day at the park.
