Your flight from London lands at Dubai International Airport, where your driver meets you for the short run to the Fairmont Dubai. The hotel is under 15 minutes away by road. Check in to your Fairmont Room for the first of three nights, and keep the evening simple with a swim on the roof and an early dinner.
Two free days in the city. In the summer months, plan outdoor sightseeing for early morning or after dark. The Museum of the Future and the Dubai Frame are both in view of the hotel, and the metro runs along Sheikh Zayed Road to Downtown Dubai for the Burj Khalifa and The Dubai Mall.
After breakfast, a private transfer takes you back to the airport for the included flight to Mauritius, about 6 hours 35 minutes nonstop. You land at Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport in the south-east, and your driver takes about an hour to reach SALT of Palmar. Rooms are ready from 14:00.

Tea time at the SALT Bakery runs from 16:00 to 17:00, with cakes, waffles and pancakes, before the rooftop bar opens for the evening.
Check-out is at 11:00, so pack the night before if your flight leaves early. Your private transfer takes you back across the island to the airport for the flight home to London. If your flight leaves late in the day, ask the hotel about a late check-out, which depends on availability and may be charged.

SALT of Palmar is an adults-only boutique hotel of 59 rooms on the coast road at Palmar, near Belle Mare, and a member of Design Hotels. Your Garden View Room, one of 12, has a private balcony with a partial view towards the sea, a handmade king-size bed and a rain shower, but no television. There is a heated pool, a rooftop bar and an on-site bakery.

Mauritius and Dubai twin centre holidays often pair two beach resorts. This one skips the beach in Dubai. The first hotel sits in the business district, so the short stay goes on sightseeing and evenings out rather than a second sunbed.
The pace then drops. SALT of Palmar serves no buffets, and its food comes from nearby farmers and fishermen. It is a hotel for reading, swimming in the lagoon and long dinners, not for a busy entertainment programme.
