Your flight from the UK lands at Dubai International Airport and you are driven to your Dubai hotel. The rest of the day is free. Keep the first evening simple, with a walk along the beach and an early dinner, and stay up until a normal local bedtime to settle in.
Free days in the city. Downtown Dubai, with the Burj Khalifa observation decks, The Dubai Mall and the Dubai Fountain, is a taxi or Metro ride away. Across the city, the Al Fahidi historical neighbourhood leads down to Dubai Creek, where an abra crosses to the Gold and Spice Souks.
After breakfast you head back to Dubai airport for the flight to Mauritius. You land at Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport and are driven to the resort. Keep arrival day for unpacking and a first swim.
Free days on the island. Mahébourg has a market and a history museum. Further afield, Black River Gorges National Park and the Seven Coloured Earths at Chamarel make a full day out. Several rum distilleries on the island run tours and tastings. Leave the last evening free for packing.
