The Luxor is your only base, so you unpack once and keep the same room from arrival to departure. Evenings are left free, so you can fit shows and restaurants around the days you choose rather than a fixed plan.
Treat the daily plan as a sketch rather than a timetable. Nothing in it is pre-booked, so days can swap around to suit show times or the midday heat. Your arrival and departure days are shaped by flight times, so plan around the full days in between. Ask your consultant about adding nights.

Day by Day
Your flight from the UK lands at Harry Reid International, and your transfer takes you to the Luxor after immigration. The rest of the day is free. Keep the first evening light, with a walk through the pyramid’s atrium and an early dinner. Staying up until a normal local bedtime helps with the time difference, which is usually eight hours.
Spend the day close to the hotel. Shark Reef Aquarium at Mandalay Bay is a ticketed walk-through aquarium, and the Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign stands just south of it, with a small free car park for photos. In the evening, Excalibur and New York-New York have plenty of casual restaurants.
Head north to the middle of the Strip. The Bellagio fountain shows are free and run every half hour in the afternoon, then more often after dark. Caesars Palace and the Venetian’s indoor canals are close by, and the Bellagio Conservatory changes its floral displays with the seasons.
Take a taxi to Downtown, the older casino quarter. The Fremont Street Experience is a pedestrian street under an LED canopy that shows light and music displays each evening. The Neon Museum’s yard of retired casino signs is nearby, and tours need booking ahead, especially for evening slots.
Hoover Dam is about 30 miles south-east of the city on the Nevada-Arizona border. Grand Canyon West, home of the glass Skywalk, is a longer day by coach or a shorter one by air.
Check out and take your transfer back to Harry Reid International for your flight home. The hotel can usually hold luggage after check-out if you have time to spare.

The Luxor Hotel & Casino stands on the Las Vegas Strip and is operated by MGM Resorts. It has around 4,400 rooms, split between a 30-storey glass pyramid and two 22-storey towers. Inside the pyramid, an open atrium holds restaurants, bars, the casino and theatres. At night a beam of light shines straight up from the apex of the pyramid.

It is a good base for a first visit if you are happy to use taxis for the middle of the Strip. The free Mandalay Bay Tram and indoor walkways link the Luxor with Excalibur and Mandalay Bay. New York-New York is a short walk beyond Excalibur, over a pedestrian bridge.
Bellagio, Caesars Palace and the Venetian are a different matter. They sit well over a mile north, a pleasant evening stroll in March but hard going on a July afternoon. Plan on a taxi, rideshare or the Deuce bus for those nights.
Of the other hotels we sell nearby, New York-New York and the MGM Grand are also 4-star. Both sit at the Tropicana Avenue crossroads, a little closer to mid-Strip. The Luxor is the value choice among them. It suits travellers who would rather spend the difference on shows, restaurants and a canyon trip.

Pyramid rooms sit along the sloping outer walls, so the window wall leans inwards over the room. You reach them by inclinators, lifts that run diagonally up the corners of the pyramid, and the corridors look down into the atrium.
The two towers beside the pyramid have conventional upright rooms and ordinary lifts. Choose a tower if a sloping window would bother you, or pick the pyramid for the novelty. Tell your consultant which you prefer and we will request it when we book your Luxor hotel Las Vegas package.
Four nights gives you three full days in the city. After a long-haul flight, the first day rarely goes to plan, so four nights has little slack.

Price and weather pull in opposite directions. The Luxor's pools are seasonal and close in the cooler months, which is also when this holiday costs least.
