Your flight from the UK lands at Orlando International (MCO). After immigration, travel on to the villa at Highlands Reserve. Stock the kitchen with a first grocery shop, then unpack, try the pool and aim for a normal local bedtime to adjust to the time difference.
A full day at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. Arrive before opening to ride Space Mountain and the most popular attractions while queues are short. Rest through the hottest part of the afternoon, then stay for the evening fireworks over Cinderella Castle.
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is split across both parks. Riding the Hogwarts Express between them needs a park-to-park ticket, so choose that option if both parks are on today’s plan. Spider-Man sits in Islands of Adventure.
After two park days, keep today free. Swim, read by the pool, cook a long lunch and let the children set the pace. It leaves everyone fresher for three more full days out.
Spend the morning on the rides at the front of EPCOT, then walk round World Showcase in the afternoon. Its pavilions represent eleven countries, each with its own food, shops and architecture, and the lake circuit makes a natural route to dinner.
Head east to Kennedy Space Center on the Atlantic coast. Allow a long day, as the journey from Davenport takes a good while each way. Highlights include Space Shuttle Atlantis and the Saturn V rocket. On the way back, stop at one of Orlando’s premium outlet malls.
Start early at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, home to Pandora – The World of Avatar, as its animals are most active in the cooler morning. In the evening, head to Disney Springs, where entry and parking are free, for dinner and a last look at the shops.
Have a final breakfast and one last swim before check-out. Allow plenty of time to reach Orlando International (MCO) and check in for your flight to the UK.

Highlands Reserve sits off US-27 in Davenport, Polk County, between Orlando and Tampa. It is outside the city of Orlando and outside Walt Disney World itself, so the parks are a drive rather than a walk.

A full UK photocard licence is accepted for driving in the US. The FCDO notes you may also need the 1949 international driving permit, which cannot be bought outside the UK, so get it before you fly. Requirements vary by state.
Hire companies often set stricter conditions of their own, such as a year of driving experience, a higher minimum age or an IDP, so check their terms for every named driver. Traffic drives on the right, and several fast roads around Orlando are tolled.
The Atlantic hurricane season runs from 1 June to 30 November. Most activity falls between mid-August and mid-October, with a peak around 10 September, so travel insurance that covers weather disruption matters most then.
Summer is hot and humid, with afternoon thunderstorms that can pause outdoor rides. Spring and late autumn are milder for full days on your feet. British passport holders need an ESTA or a US visa. Apply on the official US government site well before you travel. The FCDO warns that an ESTA without the selfie photograph US Customs and Border Protection now requires may need a fresh application, so check an older approval.
