Day by Day
You land at Noi Bai Airport, where a representative meets you for the private transfer to The Q Hotel. The first day is free. On day 2 a local guide walks you through the Old Quarter to taste the city’s best-known dishes at street-food stalls, with local beer along the way.
Drive from Hanoi to the coast and board the Indochine Cruise. The boat sails among the limestone karsts, calls at a fishing community and anchors for the night. Next morning brings Tai Chi on the sundeck and a limestone grotto. You then return to Hanoi by road for the flight to Siem Reap, where you are met and driven to Hotel Somadevi Angkor Resort & Spa.
Day 5 is the full-day guided tour of the Angkor complex: Angkor Wat, the largest religious monument in the world, and other major temples of the ancient city. Carry water and sun protection, as shade is scarce between temple groups. Day 6 has no plans, so rest by the pool or walk the riverside paths.
A morning transfer takes you to Siem Reap airport for the flight back into Vietnam. In Ho Chi Minh City you are met and driven to your centrally located hotel, and the evening is yours.
Leave the city by road and check in to Pandanus Resort. Outings from here are at your own cost. The White Sand Dunes at Bau Trang are the main draw, with the red dunes nearer Mui Ne village; go early or late, when the sand is cooler. Fairy Stream and the dawn catch at the fishing harbour each fill a morning. Agree a price with a driver the day before and carry Vietnamese dong.
After a slow last morning on the coast, the road transfer brings you back to the city. Day 14 opens with a guided half-day: Notre Dame Cathedral (seen from outside while restoration continues), the Saigon Central Post Office and Ben Thanh Market. The afternoon is free, perhaps for the War Remnants Museum at your own cost.
Depending on your flight time, there may be a free morning for packing or a final walk. A private transfer then takes you to the airport for your return flight to the UK.

The route crosses three weather zones, so no single month is perfect everywhere. Ho Chi Minh City and the south coast are dry from December to April and wet from May to November. Hanoi is cool to cold from December to March, with lows around 10°C, so pack a warm layer for the start of the trip.
Ha Long Bay is at its best from April to June and from September to November. The Foreign Office dates Vietnam's tropical storm season from May to November, when storms can seriously disrupt travel.
Mui Ne has reliable thermal winds from October to April, and kitesurfing conditions peak between about 11am and 4pm.

British citizens can visit Vietnam without a visa for up to 45 days. This route enters Vietnam twice, first at Hanoi and again at Ho Chi Minh City after Cambodia, and each stay sits well inside that limit.
Cambodia needs a tourist visa, valid for 30 days from entry. Apply for the e-visa at least four days before you travel, or buy a visa on arrival at Siem Reap with a passport photo and US dollars. You must also submit Cambodia's free e-Arrival Card within the seven days before you land.
Both countries want your passport valid for at least six months from arrival and undamaged. Vietnam also asks for two blank pages. At Ho Chi Minh City's Tan Son Nhat airport, a digital arrival card is encouraged but not mandatory. Since 1 July 2026, Vietnam may also ask for a health declaration, possibly with proof of vaccinations. Recheck the FCDO Vietnam and FCDO Cambodia entry pages a few weeks before you fly.
The road from Ho Chi Minh City now uses the Dau Giay to Phan Thiet expressway, open since April 2023, which brings Phan Thiet within about two hours. Mui Ne lies further along the coast, so allow around three hours each way.
Direct flights from London Heathrow take about 12 hours to Hanoi. Between Heathrow and Ho Chi Minh City the direct flying time is 12 hours 40 minutes to 13 hours. Your UK departure airport and any connection are confirmed with your quote.
