This guide covers multi centre holidays with three or more stops across Asia, Thailand, Vietnam and the USA. It sets out how to plan the stops, compares eleven packaged routes, and gives the entry rules at each border you cross. How to plan a multi-centre holiday: stops, order and nights

With three or more stops, these rules decide whether the trip feels relaxed or rushed.

• Match stops to nights. Three stops fit into 10 to 15 nights, and four stops into 13 to 17. Squeeze them further and every stay becomes a transit stay.
• Give each city three nights where you can. Arrival and departure days each lose half a day to transfers, check-in and packing, so two nights leaves one usable day. Touring routes and road trips use shorter stops, because the journey is the point.
• Use the hub where the long-haul flight connects. Dubai and Singapore both work as a first or last stop. You break the journey there instead of sitting in a transit lounge.
• Route in one direction where you can. Doubling back to a city you have already visited usually adds a flight and a night, unless the flight network forces it.
• Put the beach last. Cities and touring are tiring, and a resort at the end lets you recover before the flight home. The longest stay usually belongs there too.
• Check the season at every stop, not just the first. Stops a few hours apart can have opposite weather. Plan around the stop with the narrowest good window.

Multi-centre holidays in Asia

The Asia grand tours pair a Gulf or Southeast Asian hub with Bali, Bangkok or the Maldives. Each crosses at least three borders, so entry rules matter more here than on any single-country trip. The UAE, Singapore and Indonesia each ask for a passport valid for at least six months from arrival.

Timing depends on the beach stop. Bali is dry from April to October, while the Maldives is dry during the north-east monsoon from November to April. That is why the months in the table differ so much between routes, and why a route with both islands narrows to a single month.

Dubai, Bangkok, Bali & Singapore

British passport holders can spend up to 90 days in any 180 in the UAE without a visa, so the Dubai leg needs no paperwork.

Dubai, Singapore & Bali

This three-stop route lets you choose your Dubai hotel from Dukes The Palm, Andaz Dubai The Palm or FIVE Palm Jumeirah. Singapore is at PARKROYAL COLLECTION Marina Bay. In Bali, you choose between The Ritz-Carlton, Bali and The Apurva Kempinski, both on the south coast. Singapore needs no visa, but everyone arriving must file the SG Arrival Card online in the three days before landing.

Singapore, Maldives & Dubai

This route suits travellers who want an island stay without a long flight home straight from the atoll. It starts at The Fullerton Bay Hotel in Singapore on bed and breakfast. Next comes OBLU SELECT Lobigili in the Maldives on all-inclusive, reached by speedboat or seaplane. It finishes at Atlantis, The Palm in Dubai. For the Maldives, complete the IMUGA traveller declaration in the 96 hours before your flight lands. Maldives resort stays attract two government charges, a US$12 nightly green tax per guest and 17% tourism GST. Ask if your quote already covers them.

Bali, Singapore & Maldives

Here Bali comes first, split between Maya Ubud in the hills and Maya Sanur on the east coast. A city stop at Oasia Hotel Novena in Singapore follows, and the trip ends at OBLU XPERIENCE Ailafushi in the Maldives. Indonesia charges British visitors IDR 500,000 for a 30-day visa on arrival, plus a separate Bali tourist levy of IDR 150,000. The All Indonesia arrival card opens 72 hours before you land.

Thailand multi-centre holidays

Thailand works well for multi-centre holidays because domestic flights link Bangkok, the north and the Andaman coast, so a four-stop route never needs a long overland day. The country has three seasons. The rains run from mid-May to mid-October and the hot season from mid-February to mid-May, which leaves the cool, drier months shown in the table. The Gulf islands, such as Koh Samui, run on a different pattern and take their heaviest rain late in the year.

Entry rules changed in September 2026. From 15 September 2026, British visitors can stay up to 30 days without a visa, down from 60. Visa-exempt entries are normally limited to two per calendar year. Everyone must also submit the Thailand Digital Arrival Card within the three days before arrival. Your passport must be valid for six months from arrival, with one blank page.

Dubai, Bangkok, Chiang Mai & Krabi

The Thailand & Dubai route starts with a Gulf stop at JA Palm Tree Court. It then enters Thailand at Banyan Tree Bangkok and heads north to The Bush Camp in Chiang Mai. It ends at Banyan Tree Krabi on the Andaman coast. All four hotels are on bed and breakfast. A single visa-exempt entry covers the Thai stops.

Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Krabi & Phuket

The Thailand Experience keeps all four stops inside the country, which makes it one of the simplest routes here for entry rules. Hotels are Cross Vibe Bangkok Sukhumvit, Cross Vibe Chiang Mai Decem, Sea Seeker Krabi and Best Western Premier Bangtao on Phuket. Two beach stops on the same coast mean both share the same dry season. Vietnam multi-centre holidays

Vietnam is long and thin, and the north, centre and south each keep their own weather. The north has cold winters from December to March. Hoi An, in the centre, is rainy and cool from September to January, then warm and sunny from February to August. Ho Chi Minh City stays hot all year, alternating between dry and rainy spells. Ha Long Bay is clearest from September to November and misty from December to March. No single month suits every stop, so the timing is a compromise.

Direct flights from Heathrow take about 12 hours to Hanoi and around 12 hours 40 minutes to 13 hours to Ho Chi Minh City. British passport holders get up to 45 days visa-free. Your passport must be valid for six months from arrival, with two blank pages and no damage.

Hanoi to Mui Ne: Luxurious Vietnam Discovery

This tour runs the length of the country: Hanoi, a cruise on Ha Long Bay, Hoi An, Hue and Ho Chi Minh City. It finishes on the beach at Mui Ne. Stays include KOI Hoi An Resort and Spa, Pilgrimage Village in Hue and The Anam Mui Ne. Vietnam, Laos & Cambodia: Indochina Discovery

Indochina Discovery adds two more countries. After Hanoi and an Indochine Cruise on Ha Long Bay, it flies to Luang Prabang in Laos, then Siem Reap in Cambodia. It flies back into Ho Chi Minh City, spends beach days on Phu Quoc, and returns to Ho Chi Minh City for the flight home. Because the route leaves Vietnam and comes back, you pass Vietnamese immigration twice. The 90-day e-visa allows multiple entries but ties you to the entry and exit points you choose when you apply, so list every airport you will use. USA multi-centre holidays 2026

American routes use three kinds of transport: domestic flights between distant states, rail along the north-east corridor, and a hire car on the open road. Pick the route by how you want to travel between stops, not just by the cities.

Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Maui & Oahu

This four-stop route starts at The LINQ on the Las Vegas Strip and continues to the Hilton Los Angeles/Universal City. It crosses the Pacific to The Westin Maui in Ka’anapali and ends at Hyatt Regency Waikiki on Oahu. New York, Washington DC & Boston by Amtrak

For a New York multi-centre holiday without internal flights, this is the route to choose. You stay at The Knickerbocker in Times Square, the Willard InterContinental near the White House and The Langham in Boston. Amtrak trains link all three, arriving in each city centre instead of at an out-of-town airport.

Route 66 self-drive

This is the one road trip in the list. Overnight stops include Chicago, St Louis, Oklahoma City, Amarillo, Santa Fe, Las Vegas and Los Angeles. An intermediate SUV with unlimited mileage is included. Hotels are four-star along the road, with the Bellagio in Las Vegas as the five-star stop.
