What is W Dubai – The Palm like? A 2026 review
The hotel is a low-rise, curved building that faces the open Gulf from the far side of the Palm, rather than another glass tower. One reviewer likened its shape to a cruise ship. Inside, it follows the W brand formula: strong colour, glossy finishes, LED lighting built into the lobby walls and oversized chrome sculptures.
That styling is the appeal, and the sound that goes with it is the main caveat. A 2025 independent review describes poolside DJs by day and a party atmosphere at weekends, with live DJs and bottle service. If you are a light sleeper, ask us to request a room away from the pool side when booking. Hotels treat such requests as preferences, not guarantees.
The other trade-off is position. The beach looks back across the water to the inner fronds of the Palm, and the resort has almost everything you need on site. The price is distance: this is a hotel you stay in, not one you use as a base for the city.

For a couple on a short break, the Wonderful Room is the sensible choice, because the view is rarely where the holiday happens. If a sea view is the point of the trip, go straight to Fabulous. A family of four is usually more comfortable in a suite than in two standard rooms, since the extra living space keeps bedtimes separate. The hotel also lists a two-bedroom Family Room of about 100 m², made up of two connecting rooms.
WET Deck and the pools at W Dubai – The Palm: who can use what
WET Deck is the hotel’s social centre, with cabanas, floating loungers, a swim-up bar and a music-led atmosphere. It is where the lively reputation comes from, and it is the reason the hotel feels more like a beach club than a family resort. Outside guests can buy day passes, and at weekends those are tied to brunches and ladies’ days, so expect outside guests on the deck as well as residents.
Children use the main pool instead, which the hotel’s day-pass partner describes as shallow and spacious, so families do not need to use WET Deck at all.
Below the pools is the hotel’s private sandy beach. The hotel lists kayaking, jet skiing, water skiing, surfing and boat trips among its activities. These are not part of a package and are charged locally.

Torno Subito, the Massimo Bottura restaurant that many earlier reviews praise, closed permanently on 30 November 2024. Its replacement, OliWino, is currently listed as temporarily closed. That leaves Akira Back as the hotel’s destination restaurant, so book it before you travel for weekend evenings.
For more variety, the Palm’s other resorts and the Dubai Marina restaurants are a taxi ride away. Eating out on two or three nights of a five-night stay keeps the hotel’s menus from feeling repetitive.
Spa and gym
The spa is now Serenity by Sisley Paris, which replaced the AWAY Spa named in older reviews. It uses products from Sisley, the French skincare house. Ask for the current treatment menu when you book, and reserve popular late-afternoon slots a day or two ahead.
The FIT gym is open to hotel guests. Its hours are not listed on the hotel’s website, so check them at check-in if you train early or late.
Who W Dubai – The Palm suits, and who it doesn’t
It suits:
- Couples and friends who want the beach, pool and bars without leaving the hotel.
- Short breaks, where a lively base matters more than a long sightseeing list.
- Travellers who prefer design-led hotels to the classic marble-and-gold Dubai style.
It is less suited to:
- Anyone looking for a calm, classic resort with quiet pools.
- Sightseeing-heavy trips, where a Downtown or Marina hotel saves a daily taxi ride.
- Families with babies or toddlers, or those who want a water park and a large children’s programme on site.

Dubai’s average daily high is about 24°C in January and about 41°C in August, based on the national weather centre’s long-term figures. From November to March the beach and pool deck are comfortable all day. In the summer months the sun is fierce by late morning, so plan pool time for early and late in the day and use the shaded cabanas.
