Luxury All-Inclusive Holidays 2026: Couples and Adults-Only Resorts

Luxury all-inclusive holidays cover your meals and drinks, the same as any all-inclusive board. At the top end, you pay for which meals and which drinks. That means à la carte dinners without a supplement, spirits you would recognise from a bar at home, and a minibar that someone refills. We sell them in the Caribbean, the Dominican Republic, Bermuda, the UAE and the Maldives, and the plans differ more than the brochure names suggest.

What does luxury all-inclusive actually include?

Every all-inclusive plan starts from the same base:

• Breakfast, lunch and dinner, plus snacks in between.
• Soft drinks, beer, house wine and local spirits.
• Non-motorised water sports such as kayaks, paddleboards and snorkel kit.
• The pools, the beach and the evening entertainment.

Above that base, the tiers change three things. The brands behind the bar, the number of dinners you can take away from the buffet, and what happens in your room.

Hotel groups use these names loosely. One chain's "premium" is another's "ultra", Sandals calls its plan "Luxury Included" and OBLU calls its version the Lobi Plan. So judge the plan by what it lists, not by its label. The two questions we ask on every quote: are the spirits named brands or house pours, and how many à la carte dinners can you book in a week?

What is not included in an all-inclusive holiday?

Exclusions cause more surprises at check-out than anything in the inclusions list. These usually stay extra, even on an ultra plan.

• Spa treatments and excursions. A massage or a catamaran day is charged to your room.
• Surcharged dishes and wines. Lobster, premium steak cuts and the reserve wine list often carry a supplement, and private dinners on the beach always do.
• Motorised water sports and diving. Jet skis, parasailing and scuba certification are paid for separately.
• Tips, depending on the brand. Sandals plans include staff tips, except for butlers, spa staff, tour operators and transfer drivers. Couples Resorts has a no-tipping policy. Elsewhere, tipping is your call.
• Local taxes paid at the hotel. Dubai's Tourism Dirham is AED 7 to 20 per room per night, depending on the hotel's category, for up to 30 nights. It is added to your bill on an all-inclusive stay too.

All-inclusive or half board? It depends where you go

All-inclusive pays for itself when there is nowhere else to eat. It is poor value when the best food on the island is a short walk from the lobby.

• Caribbean resorts. Many beach resorts in Antigua, St Lucia and Jamaica sit away from the main towns. Where yours does, a dinner out adds a return taxi fare to the bill, and all-inclusive usually wins.
• Ras Al Khaimah. The beach resorts on Al Marjan Island stand on reclaimed land with little beyond the other hotels in walking distance. All-inclusive is the normal way to stay.
• Maldives. Each island holds one resort, so every meal and drink for the whole stay comes from the same kitchen and the same bar. The board is a bigger decision here than anywhere else, and our Maldives holidays guide covers what it adds to the cost.
• Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Restaurants are easy to reach, but alcohol is served mainly in licensed venues, most of them in hotels. • Greece and Portugal. Tavernas and harbour restaurants are often within walking distance, and eating out is half the reason to go. Half board usually makes more sense.

All-inclusive couples holidays and adults-only resorts

For all inclusive couples holidays, the first decision is between a resort with a minimum age and one that also takes families. Not every all-inclusive we sell has an age rule. Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana has a kids' club and a water park, so expect children around the pools.

Adults-only is not right for everyone. If you are travelling with a 16- or 17-year-old, an 18-plus rule is applied at check-in, so book a family resort instead. And if you like a lively pool with people of all ages around, a big family resort can feel more relaxed than a hushed adults-only one.

Where to go for luxury all-inclusive, by month and flight time

Flight times below are approximate non-stop times from London. Best months reflect the dry season or the hottest reliable weather for a beach stay.

Caribbean hurricane season runs from 1 June to 30 November, with most activity between mid-August and mid-October.

How to get more from an all-inclusive budget

• Pay for ultra only if you will use it. It earns its supplement if you drink spirits or cocktails most evenings, or want à la carte every night. A couple who share a bottle of wine at dinner is often better off on a standard plan with one paid dinner out.
• Match the nights to the flight. Three to five nights in the Gulf works after a 7- to 8-hour flight. After 9 or 10 hours to the Caribbean, a week is the shortest stay we would suggest.
• Look at the shoulder months. Late April, May and late November often price below January to March in the Caribbean, and the sea is still warm.
• Price business class on the same quote. Almost all our Gulf and Maldives packages price it month by month, and so do several Caribbean ones, including Sandals and the La Romana adults-only resort. Seeing both cabins side by side makes the decision easier.
• Spend the difference where the plan stops. If a cheaper tier saves you money, a spa treatment or a boat day usually adds more to the week than a better brand of gin.
